Softline FAQs

Softline

Approximately how many relines are achieved from a kit of material?
One introductory package containing a cartridge of material, bonding agent and varnish can be used to reline approximately 10 dentures (uppers or lowers) or approximately 20 partials (uppers or lowers).

How many coats of Bonding Agent are needed on the denture?
SoftLine Bonding agent is developed to achieve strong adhesion when 1-2 coats are applied to the treated area of the denture or partial to be relined. Excess application may cause failure.

What is the drying time needed after applying the bonding agent?
The bonding agent requires only a one minute air-drying time prior to applying the SoftLine relining material.

What is the drying time needed after applying the varnish material?
The SoftLine varnish material requires five minutes at room temperature for complete drying.

Even though we have followed ALL of the instructions, the relining material is not adhering to the denture. What could be the cause?
The set time of polyvinyl materials may be inhibited or contaminated by sulfur products including the powder residue from latex gloves. Take care to keep the denture surfaces free of contamination or use powder-free gloves.

What is the shelf life of the products in the SoftLine system?
Everything included in the kit has a shelf life of two years from the date that it was manufactured.

In the preparation step, what type of bur is recommended for the initial grinding of the denture surface? Any grinding bur can be used. For more aggressive surface removal, a lab bur would also be acceptable.

In the trimming and finishing step, what instrument is used for trimming the excess SoftLine relining material?
Smooth uneven spots by removing excess material with a sharp scalpel or fine scissors. Then smooth rough areas and borders using a suitable silicone-grinding bur or fine finishing bur. For smoothing of the trimmed functional borders use the SoftLine varnish material, base + catalyst.
