In the dental world, handling can sometimes be the determining factor when choosing a composite material. In the early 1990s, Kerr initiated a project with the purpose of creating a restorative that retained the mechanical properties of Herculite, but with entirely different handling characteristics and in 1995, we introduced Prodigy™. Prodigy shares the same average particle size and distribution as Herculite. The difference is a softer feel. Without sacrificing resistance to slump or sculpability, Prodigy offers a material for those who prefer a lighter touch on the instrument. Because Prodigy offers identical strength and esthetics as Herculite XRV, there is no sacrifice in performance. So no matter what you want in a restorative, Kerr has the material for you.
